Create a space
Overview
Spaces are the main working areas in CADchat where you view 3D models, collaborate on documents, use the whiteboard, and hold meetings. You can create a new space from the organization page or from the dashboard.
Steps
From the organization page:
- In the left navigation, click your organization name to go to the organization page.
- Click the purple Create a Space card in the main area.
- The Create A New Space modal opens with the following fields:
- Pick An Organization (* Required) — Pre-filled with your current organization. Change if you belong to multiple organizations.
- Pick a Folder (optional) — Optionally place the new space inside an existing folder.
- Name Your Space (* Required) — Type a name for the space.
- Invite Others (Use Email) (* Required) — Add collaborators by email. You are listed as the owner by default.
- Click Create Space.
- The new space opens immediately.
From the dashboard:
- Click Dashboard in the left navigation.
- Click Create a Space next to the Recently Visited Spaces section heading.
- Complete the same modal as above and click Create Space.
Additional details
- New spaces are empty — no 3D models, documents, or members are added automatically beyond those invited during creation.
- You are set as the space owner by default.
- You can rename a space after creation from the space card ... menu or from Space Settings.
- Spaces are private by default — only people you invite can access them.
Troubleshooting
- If the Create a Space card is not visible, scroll up on the organization page or check that you have permission to create spaces in this organization.
- If the space is created but does not appear in your list, refresh the page.
