Threads overview

Overview

Threads let you anchor feedback and discussion directly to a specific location on a 3D model, document, or whiteboard. You create a thread by placing a pin, then collaborators can reply and resolve the thread when the issue is addressed.

Steps

To place a pin and start a thread:

  1. In the left toolbar, click the Add Pin icon (pin/thumbtack icon).
  2. A color picker flyout appears — optionally choose a pin color.
  3. Click on the canvas, model, or document where you want to anchor the thread.
  4. A Thread popup appears at that location, labeled Thread 1 (or the next number in sequence).
  5. Click Reply in the thread popup to open the Thread Details panel on the left.
  6. Type your comment in the composer. Use the formatting toolbar for bold, italic, lists, links, and more.
  7. Click the send arrow to post your reply.

To resolve a thread:

  1. Click the checkmark icon in the thread popup or in the Thread Details panel.
  2. The thread is marked with a green RESOLVED badge.
  3. To reopen it, click the checkmark again — it becomes Unresolve Thread.

To access thread options:

  1. Click the ... icon in the thread popup or Thread Details panel.
  2. Choose from: View Thread Details, Copy Thread Link, Edit Thread, Rename Thread, or Delete Thread.

Additional details

  • The Thread Details panel shows a snapshot thumbnail of the area where the pin was placed.
  • Threads appear in the Threads panel (click Threads in the left sidebar) as a list for the current space section.
  • The thread popup on the canvas shows a reply count so you can see activity at a glance.
  • You can use @mentions in thread replies to notify specific collaborators.
  • Threads work on the 3D Canvas, Documents tab, and Whiteboard tab.

Troubleshooting

  • If a placed pin disappears immediately, you may have clicked outside the canvas. Try clicking directly on the model or document.
  • If the Threads panel is empty, no threads have been created in this section yet.
  • If you cannot delete a thread, you may not be the thread author or a space owner.
