Understand the space layout
Overview
Every CADchat space is organized into tabs, panels, and toolbars. Understanding the layout helps you find tools quickly and switch between different types of work.
Steps
- Open any space. You land on the 3D Canvas tab by default.
- At the top center, find the five main tabs: 3D Canvas, Documents, Whiteboard, Meeting, and Folder.
- At the top left, find the space name and three icons: a gear (settings), a shield/lock (privacy), and a cloud.
- At the top right, find: Chat (opens the right-side chat panel), the Members icon (toggles collaborator visibility), your avatar (user menu), and the Invite button.
- On the left sidebar, find the Files and Threads panel toggles at the top, followed by two groups of tools below.
- At the bottom center, find the Meet button to start an ad hoc call.
Additional details
- The left sidebar tools change slightly depending on which tab you are on (3D Canvas vs. Documents vs. Whiteboard).
- Chat is a sliding right-side panel, not a tab. It is available on all tabs simultaneously.
- The Threads panel on the left shows all pins and threads created in the current space section.
- The Files panel shows uploaded 3D models (on the 3D Canvas tab) or uploaded documents (on the Documents tab).
- You can have both a left panel (Files or Threads) and the Chat panel open at the same time.
Troubleshooting
- If you cannot see the Meet button, scroll down or reduce your zoom level — it appears at the bottom center of the canvas area.
- If the Chat panel appears to be missing, click the Chat icon in the top right to open it.
- If the toolbar looks different from what you expect, check which tab you are on — each tab has its own left toolbar.
