User Preferences

Overview

User Preferences let you customise how CADchat behaves for you personally — covering navigation controls, rendering quality, and performance. Changes apply to your account only and do not affect other collaborators.

Steps

  1. From inside any space, click your avatar in the top right corner.
  2. Click User Preferences from the dropdown menu.
  3. The User Preferences panel opens with three tabs: Controls, Rendering, and Performance.

Controls tab

  • Mouse-Wheel Zoom for Drawings — When on, use the scroll wheel to zoom in the Documents tab. Default: Off.
  • Zoom to Cursor — When on, zooming centers on your cursor position. Default: On.
  • Invert Zoom Direction — Reverses the scroll direction for zooming. Default: Off.
  • Rotate Around Model Center — When on, rotation orbits around the model center. Default: On.
  • Double Click Action — Choose what happens when you double-click on the 3D canvas: Add Pin or Zoom to. Default: Add Pin.

Rendering tab

  • Enable Hover Highlighting — Highlights parts when you hover over them in the 3D canvas. Default: On.
  • Enable Axis Triad — Shows the X/Y/Z axis indicator in the canvas. Default: Off.

Performance tab

  • Small Object Culling Threshold — Controls the level at which small geometry is skipped for performance. Default: High.
  • Enable Selection Outlines — Shows an outline highlight around selected parts. Default: On.
  • Limit Resolution — Reduces render resolution to improve performance on slower devices. Default: Off.

Troubleshooting

  • If User Preferences is not in the avatar menu, make sure you are inside a space — this menu is only accessible from within a space.
  • If performance is poor, try enabling Limit Resolution and setting Small Object Culling Threshold to High.
