Upload a 3D model file to a space

Overview

The Files panel in the 3D Canvas lets you upload, switch between, and manage 3D model files in a space. Multiple files can exist in the same space.

Steps

To upload a file:

  1. Open a space and click the 3D Canvas tab.
  2. Click Files in the left sidebar to open the Files panel.
  3. Click the upload zone or drag and drop a file to upload a new model.

To manage an existing file:

  1. Open the Files panel.
  2. Hover over a file entry and click the ... (more options) icon.
  3. Choose from the menu:
    • View File Info — See metadata for the file.
    • Rename File — Change the display name.
    • Download Original File — Download in the original uploaded format (e.g., .stp).
    • Download Converted File — Download the web-optimized version (e.g., .stl).
    • Update Cover Image — Set a custom thumbnail for the file.
    • Remove Cover Image — Revert to the default thumbnail.
    • Delete File — Permanently remove the file from the space.

  • Files are not shared between spaces — each space has its own file list.

Troubleshooting

  • If a file upload fails, check that the file format is in the supported list and that the file is not corrupted.
  • If a file shows as processing for more than a few minutes, refresh the page.
  • If Delete File is not available, you may not have sufficient permissions in this space.
