Interact with 3D model parts

Overview

Right-clicking directly on a 3D model part opens a context menu with options specific to that part. These options let you control your personal view of the part and change how it appears for all collaborators.

Steps

  1. Open a space with a 3D model loaded in the 3D Canvas tab.
  2. Right-click directly on any solid part of the model (not the background canvas).
  3. The part-level context menu opens with two sections: My View and Group View.

My View options

These options only affect your own view and are not visible to other collaborators.

  • Reset My View — Returns your camera to the default position.
  • Fit To Screen — Zooms to fit the entire model on screen.
  • Zoom To Part — Zooms your camera in to focus on this specific part.
  • Hide Part — Hides this part from your view only.
  • Isolate Part — Hides all other parts so only this part is visible in your view.

Group View options

These options affect the shared view for all collaborators in the space.

  • Reset Group View — Resets the shared view back to the default for everyone.
  • Hide Part — Hides this part for all collaborators.
  • Transparent — Makes this part semi-transparent for all collaborators.
  • Part Color — Changes the color of this part for all collaborators. Options: Original, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, Black, White.
  • Part Material — Applies a material finish to this part for all collaborators. Options: None, Aluminium, Brass, Car paint (blue), Car paint (red), Chrome, Concrete, Dichroic glass, Gold, Iron, Plastic (blue), Plastic (red), Rubber.

Additional details

  • My View changes are personal — other collaborators cannot see them.
  • Group View changes (color, material, transparency, hide) are shared and visible to everyone in the space in real time.
  • To reset a part's color or material back to original, right-click the part again and select Part Color > Original or Part Material > None.
  • Right-clicking on the empty canvas background (not a part) opens the canvas-level context menu. See Use the 3D Canvas context menu.
