Take measurements and change precision

Overview

The Add Measurement tool lets you measure distances between points on a 3D model. The precision of displayed measurements is set in Space Settings and applies to everyone in the space.

Steps

To add a measurement:

  1. In the left toolbar, click the Add Measurement icon (ruler icon, second from top in the tool group).
  2. Click a point on the model, then click a second point to place a measurement line.
  3. The measured distance displays on the canvas.

To change measurement precision:

  1. Click the gear icon in the space header.
  2. Click Space Settings.
  3. Click the Measurements tab.
  4. Use the Precision spinner to adjust the decimal precision. The default is .001 (1/8).

Additional details

  • Measurements are visible to all collaborators in real time.
  • Precision changes affect all existing and new measurements in the space.
  • You can place multiple measurements on the same model.

Troubleshooting

  • If the measurement tool is not responding, ensure a 3D model is loaded in the space.
  • If measurement values look incorrect, check that the model was uploaded with the correct unit scale.
